why are we still trying to Raise global warming awareness?

The media spam our time with tonnes of global warming awareness events. They talk about it allot during the news(when ever there is a disaster that is blamable). The point is why are you still shouting out the message when we already know and heard about it a million times. It's annoying and repetative like my ex girlfriend that is true but advertising costs money and for the length of time i've heard these adds and spam go on for i don't think they could afford this

  1. I agree completely. It is more than just annoying to me however. It is pathetic, devious, deceptive BS. I believe it is because their is still far too much money to be made yet, otherwise it would simply disappear.
  2. there just doing that for the ppl who dont no about it
  3. We should be skeptical about "scientists" who predict climate future based on computer models. People are trying to play God by saying, 'Oh, this computer model told me 50 years from now that this IS going to happen.' That's an arguable point. and I think we should question it. But to say that someone has absolute knowledge of the future seems to me to be playing something more than a mortal. There is a difference between thinking something is going to happen and deducing something is going to happen. But saying, 'No, I know it; the debate is over' is just plain stupid to say you know something's going to happen 50 years from now
  4. Global warming issue is raised everywhere, but still...a lot of people are being ignorant. they hear but they don't listen. they still don't live the green way, still don't save the water, still splurge on electricity usage...the list could keep going on and on.
  5. There are still many people how either do not believe in Global Warming or just are to lazy to take care of the problem. So they always remind us.
  6. Ultimately to avoid extinction of not only countless tens of thousands of species that are going extinct every year and much much more in the near future, in part because of GW, but also because the very preservation of the human race is at stake. If that is not reason enough for anybody then maybe we don't deserve to be around. I however am an incurable optimist when it comes to such things. : )
  7. I don't have a problem with the idea of informing the population about global warming or climate change. The spreading of fear by some organizations and others using it as a reason to push a their own agenda, is the underlying problem. We need leadership to incorporate policies that are what's best for the people, not for special interest groups.
  8. It's called propaganda.
  9. Whether you believe there is global warming or not, fact of matter is the Earth is becoming warmer. 1990's were warmest decades ever, 97 and 98 were the warmest years. Then 2001-2005 were warmer then usual. 2005 was hottest day according to NASA. According to MIT study, it was 100 percent increase in the strength and longevity of the hurricane is 2005. Besides advertisements aren't all what the money is spent on, it was $100 Billion in damages from hurricanes Rita, Katrina and other small storms eg the Tsunami. This is a becoming a common occurance to the world, which needs to become focused on greatly. Predictions say in 2030 the scientific Glacier National Park will have NO glaciers left...and already over 400000 sq km of sea ice in the Arctic has already melted..if all melts around there 15-40 % of animal species will be erased.. Like polar bears.. They just want to inform EVERYONE of this, so your ready, and you understand the Earth better, and why we get so much weather changes... thats all..
  10. I think part of it is because people like you still don't believe it, even though the reasons you give for not believing it are very weak. I guess people feel the need to keep pounding it into people to get them to wake up. The only place the "debate" is raging is on right wing talk radio, not in the halls of science institutions.
  11. It's called missionary work, and it's key to indoctrinating and retaining a tithing congregation. Is anyone here unfamiliar with the message preached by Christians? Yet we hear this one everywhere, too.
  12. What's global warming? I never heard of it. Love Jack
  13. Because as much as we try to fight it, many people enjoy paying huge tax amounts to support the lifestyles of rich politicians.
