What is the easiest way to build an e-commerce website?
I'm a web designer that has never built an e-commerce website before. I would like to know what the quickest and easiest way of building an e-commerce website is. Any tips?

- if you want to learn all the back end stuff necessary, you'll need to learn SQL and with ASP.net or PHP. If that doesn't sound appealing then try Yahoo Small Business. They can get you up and running really fast and their support is pretty good. Good luck!
- A good website is not easy to make, it takes a lot of time and energy, ask anyone. What you must do first off is gain as much knowledge as you can about programming your site, next you need to make sure it's not just static html, because unless you advertise the heck out of it, you will go no where with it. After that you need to find a good hosting site and start building for the knowledge you obtain. Don't be afriad to get your hands dirty. And good luck. For a good hosting site, I just found this free host with: - 350 MB of Disk Space - 100 GB Bandwidth - Your own domain hosting - cPanel Control panel - Website Builder - Over 500 website templates ready for download - Free POP3 Email Box and Webmail access - FTP and Web based File Manager - PHP, MySQL, Perl, CGI, Ruby. - No Ads at all ! - As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name. If you want to start your business website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today. They also offer "Free Site Builder" that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get). Some of these companies also offer hundreds of various customizable templates. Take a look at: http://www.threehosts.com/business There you can reach the three reputable companies that are leaders in the E-commerce web hosting industry.
- All the buzz in the forums lately has been about the new updated XSitePro2. It really is the new standard for designing e commerce sites. I had the first version and it was great. I just got version 2 and haven't had a chance to really get into it yet, but I cannot wait! I am really excited about this program. Everyone is talking about how great this software is. It does EVERYTHING for you, nothing is left out. I guess you could say it gives you a blueprint to build a successful profitable ecommerce site. It is setup where the novice or the professional web designer can do great things with it. I have heard several professional web designers commenting in the forums how it is going to save them so much time and enable them to handle so many more clients. You should check it out. I was able to get in on a special $100 discount price using the link below. Maybe its not too late for the discount. I really highly recommend this program for ecommerce. http://www.xsitepro.com/index_r.html?w=home&p=specials Good Luck!
